Oro LentoHow the site was made

The gold moves as fast as you scroll.

How we made a concept site for a fictional fine jeweler: every prompt exactly as it was sent, the steps in order and how long it took.

01 · The idea

One idea, one moment, one job.

The idea is what the page is about. The moment is the one thing built for this business alone. The job is what it does for the owner.

The idea

The gold moves as fast as you scroll.

The hero is one continuous 8-second film: molten gold pours into a ring mould, the mould falls away, the ring cools from orange to gold and a diamond settles into the claws. Before anyone scrolls, the pour runs in slow gold. Scrolling plays the film, and scrolling back pours it back. Near the end the scroll lets go and the stone sets on its own, then the last frame hands over to a photograph of the finished ring.

The one moment

The loupe

A jeweler's loupe you move across the finished ring. The lens magnifies the full-size photo, loaded only when the ring is shown, so the claws and facets stay sharp up close. A mouse hovers, a finger drags, arrow keys move it, and three buttons jump to the stone, the claws and the band. With motion off it becomes a still close-up that the same buttons aim.

What it does for the owner

Book the viewing

  • Yellow, white or rose gold: the ring photo changes in place
  • A US ring-size guide
  • A private appointment on Miami time, sent as a pre-filled text or email
  • Call or text, and open now
02 · The steps

In the order we did them.

Each step says what we did and why. Open Details under a step for the tools and the numbers behind it.

  1. Write the plan before anything runs

Write every prompt out in full before you make anything, so nothing is decided halfway through.

    Details
    • plan

Every still and film prompt was written out word for word before a single call, for this site and Quiebre together. It was approved, then run.

  2. Make the first frame

Ask an image model for the opening picture, molten gold pouring into a ring mould. It becomes the film's first frame and the first thing the page shows.

    Details
    • nanobanana-pro
    • 2K
    • 1:1

Call 01, no reference: the pour. It is the film's first frame and the page's first paint.

  3. Make the pictures around it

Ask the same model for the other photos the page needs: the goldsmith's hands and the viewing room.

    Details
    • nanobanana-pro

Calls 02 and 03, no reference: the goldsmith's hands and the viewing room.

  4. Edit the first frame into the last

Send the opening picture back to the model and change one thing: the tools are gone and a finished ring stands where the mould was. Because it is an edit, the ring sits on the same spot, so the film can end there; two more edits make the same ring in white and rose gold.

    Details
    • nanobanana-pro
    • edit

Call 04 sends picture 01 back as the reference and changes one thing: the tools are gone and a finished ring stands where the mould lay. Calls 05 and 06 do the same from picture 04 for white and rose gold, so all three rings stand on the same spot, registered to about 2 levels in 255.

  5. Film the gap between the two

Give Kling, a video model, the first picture and the last one, and ask for the 8 seconds in between, written second by second (the length is a setting you choose).

    Details
    • kling-3.0-pro
    • 8 s
    • first + last frame

Call 07: first frame 01, last frame 04, one continuous take written second by second, with an exact object count and a list of what may not change.

  6. Repair the film by hand

Watch the film frame by frame and fix what the model got wrong: a thread appeared, lowering the stone, so it was painted out by hand instead of making the film again.

    Details
    • local

The film drew a thread lowering the stone. It was painted out of frames 150 to 180 of 193, frame by frame, on our own machine. Nothing was generated again.

  7. Cut the frames the scroll plays

Turn the film into a stack of still frames, so scrolling the page moves it forwards and backwards; phones get a tall crop, laptops the full square.

    Details
    • ffmpeg
    • Python
    • WebP

193 frames at 24 fps. Phones get a 9:16 crop at 540 × 960, 2,181 KB in all; desktops get the full square at 960 × 960, 3,291 KB. Frames beat a video file here: 2,145 KB against 2,543 KB for all-keyframe H.264 and 4,283 KB for VP9, and they load coarse to fine, every 8th frame first.

  8. Paint the poster first

Show the first frame as a small still straight away and load the film behind it, so the page never opens on an empty space.

    Details
    • AVIF
    • WebP

The first frame paints as a still of 8 to 42 KB, sized to the screen, before any of the film loads. The first view weighed 78 KB gzipped on 22 Sep, before the slow pour was added.

  9. Make it move before anyone scrolls

Before anyone scrolls, play the film's first second very slowly on a loop, so the page is already moving when it opens.

    Details
    • canvas
    • added 25 Sep

At rest the film's own first second plays at a fifth of its speed, every second frame of 0 to 24 dissolving into the next, then eases back to the first pour: one slow loop. Scroll takes the film on from the frame the pour is on. It stops while the tab is hidden, and never runs with motion off or Save-Data.

  10. Make it work with motion off

For visitors who turn motion off in their settings, show five still pictures, one per chapter, instead of the film.

    Details
    • prefers-reduced-motion

With reduced motion the film becomes five stills, one per chapter (frames 28, 80, 97, 112 and 192), and the loupe becomes a still inset.

  11. Audit twice, from scratch

Check the finished page twice on phones and laptops: errors, speed, accessibility and every word.

    Details
    • site walk
    • Lighthouse
    • copy_check

At 320, 375, 414 and 1280 px: 0 errors, 0 outside requests, no sideways scroll. Lighthouse on a phone: speed 100, accessibility 100, best practices 100; main content in 1.6 s; layout shift 0. Frame time 16.7 / 17.6 ms at a 4× slower CPU, the same as with motion off. copy_check: pass.

03 · The calls

Every prompt, exactly as sent.

A call is one request to an AI model: the words, plus any pictures sent with them. Each prompt is copied from our records, never retyped, beside what it made. The exact settings sit under each one.

The prompt, exactly as sent

ONE CONTINUOUS TAKE, 8 seconds, square. The camera holds its position for the whole take; the only movement is the gold. LENS LOCK: 29 degree field of view, no lens drift. EXACT OBJECT COUNT: exactly ONE crucible, ONE cradle, ONE two-part ring mould, ONE ring, ONE diamond. No hands, no people, no text. 0.0-3.0s: the molten gold pours from the crucible in one thin glowing stream and fills the mould, then the stream stops. 3.0-4.5s: the crucible and cradle rise out of the top of the frame; the two halves of the mould fall open sideways and slide out of frame, leaving the rough ring standing where the mould was, still glowing orange. 4.5-6.5s: the ring cools: its glow fades from orange to dull gold, then the surface turns bright and polished, reflections sliding around the band. 6.5-8.0s: exactly ONE diamond descends slowly from above into the claws and settles; the ring stands still, upright, facing the camera, matching the final frame exactly. PHYSICAL CAUSALITY: the gold only moves because it is poured; the ring only brightens because it cools and is polished; objects leave by moving out of frame, never by fading or dissolving; nothing appears except the single diamond, which arrives from above. The diamond is clear and transparent, refracting the bench behind it; it is NOT white, NOT milky, NOT opaque. TEXT LOCK: no text anywhere in the frame, no logos, no hallmarks, no watermark. Do NOT add hands, tools, people or extra rings. Do NOT change the bench, the window light or the colour of the stone. Do NOT cut. One uninterrupted take.

04 · The log and the time

Every call, and how long it took.

The log lists every call, used or not. The times come from the log and our saved versions, and say so where they are estimates.

One line per call, in the order they ran. Seven made a picture or film the site uses.

Time

21 min

To make every picture and the film, on 22 Sep 2026.

Details

Every still and the film call: 03:34 to 03:55 UTC, 22 Sep 2026.

1 h 36 min

From the first picture to the site's first working version. Quiebre was built at the same time, so this is not all working time.

Details

From the first still to the site's first commit at 05:10 UTC, wall clock. Quiebre was being built at the same time, so this is not hours of work.

Estimate

Both times come from the call log and our saved versions, not a stopwatch.

Details

Read from the call log and git timestamps; no stopwatch ran. The thread repair was committed 17 min later, at 05:27 UTC.

05 · The honest line

It took more than one prompt.

Seven prompts to two models, three of them edits of an earlier picture. Then the work no prompt does: a thread painted out of the film frame by frame, two frame sets cut for phone and desktop, the loupe, the booking path and two audits from scratch.
