What the website check reads and keeps.
The free website check reads one public homepage when someone pastes its address. It visits as PromptLensChecker/1.0, so an owner can see the visit in their logs.
What it reads
- Your robots.txt first. If it asks tools like ours not to read the page, the check stops there.
- The homepage itself, a few of the links and pictures on it, and your social profile links, one request at a time and at most 25 requests to your site.
- Google runs its phone speed test on the page (PageSpeed Insights), and Anthropic's Claude reads a picture of the first screen and the page's text. Both only see what the public page already shows.
What it keeps, and for how long
- The address and the result, for 90 days, at a private link nobody can guess. Results are never listed, indexed or shown to anyone else.
- The visitor's IP address only as a scrambled code that changes every day, used to stop the tool being overused, and deleted after 48 hours.
- An email address only if someone types one to get the report. A report-only address is deleted 24 hours after the report is sent. An address that ticked the tips box is kept only once it is confirmed, and an unconfirmed one is deleted after 7 days.
- No cookies, and no outside scripts, pixels or chat tools on the page.
How to block it
Add this to your robots.txt and the check will stop before it reads your page:
